Tracking Software Licenses

Adding Licenses

NetPoint allows you to track your software licenses to ensure you're in compliance. To get started tracking licenses, click on the Licenses link on the main page of the NetPoint web site. From there you can begin tracking licenses for a new software title.

An example of a software title is Microsoft Office 2007. A software title can include one or more programs. For example, the Microsoft Office 2007 software title can consist of Microsoft Office 2003 and 2007.

To associate a program with your software title, select it in the list and click Add. Multiple programs can be selected by holding down Ctrl and selecting the programs you would like. Next you can associate licenses with this software title.

Licenses may be grouped by their purchase order number. To add a license, specify the License Quantity. The Acquired Date and Purchase Order fields are optional. If you have additional licenses that were bought under a different purchase order, you can add them by clicking the Add License link.

Viewing Licenses

A summary of your license compliance can be viewed by clicking the Licenses link on the main page of the NetPoint web site.

This page contains a table that outlines the individual software titles you have registered in addition to the amount of licenses purchased, in use, and available. You can also determine on average how often people use this software title in your company.

Clicking on the software title link will display all installed copies. In addition, the Edit link can be used to modify the programs and licenses associated with this software title.
