NetPoint collects your network's inventory via an agentless polling mechanism. Computers on your network can be polled three different ways: scheduled, on demand, and autosensed.
The easiest way to collect your inventory is to schedule a poll of your entire network. This can be done by clicking on the Configure link on the main page of your NetPoint web site. One or more polls can be scheduled any time of the week.

At the time of the scheduled poll, NetPoint will collect the inventory of all computers in your domain that are online.
Often the need arises to create or refresh the inventory of one computer on demand. This can be done by clicking on the Configure link on the main page of your NetPoint web site.

Once you enter the name of the computer and click Add, NetPoint will collect the inventory of this computer within the next five minutes.
The most efficient way to collect the inventory of all computers on your network is to have each of them polled when they're online. The script at <Program Files>\Neutex NetStudio\NetPoint\Resources\PollMe.vbs is designed to run on each computer in your domain and notify NetPoint when they're online and available to be polled. This can be done by assigning PollMe.vbs as a start-up script via Group Policy for all computers in your domain.

Before using PollMe.vbs, you must open the script in Notepad and set the strServerName variable to the name of the server hosting the NetPoint database.
