Browsing And Searching
.

Browsing Component Categories

The main page NetPoint web site contains a set of modules that allow you to view your inventory by component, type, recently installed, and uninstalled. Each of these modules can be used to view your inventory in a certain way.

When browsing and searching your inventory, you'll be presented with a page that will allow you to customize how you would like to visualize your inventory.

Components can be sorted by clicking on the column name for the property you're interested in. For more details on a specific component, you can click on its link to drill down further. Furthermore, when viewing a lot of inventory components can either be displayed in Page View or Full View by clicking the Switch to link above the results.

From this page you can also export your inventory, create charts, and stay informed of any changes.

Searching Your Network Inventory

A simple search to retrieve a system by its name can be performed from any page in the NetPoint web site. A search box is available at the top right-hand corner of each page entitled Enter system name that allows you to do this. All searches are post-fixed with a wildcard, so a search for SYSTEM would return all systems that begin with the name SYSTEM.

Alternatively, if you would like to search your inventory by component specific criteria an advanced search pane is available on the main page of the NetPoint web site.

This pane is mostly self explanatory. Clicking the ? icon next to the component drop down list displays the available properties for the selected component and a brief description for each. Hovering over a row in the search criterion table will also display a balloon that contains similar information, as shown in the screenshot above. The Only show unique components checkbox will only return the unique models of inventory available on your network that match your search criterion, similar to the Component Type module.
